At the University of Texas, Earl Campbell won the Heisman Trophy in 1977 and led the nation in rushing with 1,744 yards. He was also a consensus All-America choice in 1977. He was selected as the Southwest Conference running back of the year in each of his college seasons and finished with 4,444 career rushing yards. Ricky Williams holds or shares 20 NCAA records while at Texas, and became the NCAA Division I-A career rushing leader in 1998 with 6,279 yards.
